Isaac Luggude Kwate (G/F) had a very impressive game in the last round for Western Cape M. and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 5.
The swingman had the game-high 24 points adding seven rebounds for Western Cape M. in his team's victory, helping them to edge out NW Eagles (#8, 1-4) 66-63. Western Cape M. is placed at 3rd position in South African BNL. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Western Cape M. will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. In the team's last game Kwate had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Western Cape M.'s top player in his first season with the team. Kwate has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 16.1ppg) and averages solid 55.2% FGP and 43.6% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was shooting guard Molelekoa Maqabe (SG) of Northern Cape Z.. Maqabe impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 35 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Northern Cape Z. lost that game 75-80 to the higher-ranked Limpopo Pride (#5, 3-2). Northern Cape Z. are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Northern Cape Z. managed to get this year. Maqabe is a newcomer at Northern Cape Z. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 9.0rpg and 3.8apg.
The third best performed player last round was Graci Kibikiabo (G/F) of NW Eagles (#8). Kibikiabo scored 25 points and passed six assists. Despite Kibikiabo's great performance NW Eagles lost 63-66 to the higher-ranked Western Cape M. (#3, 5-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. NW Eagles can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Kibikiabo he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Kibikiabo has individually a great season in South Africa. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.0apg (2nd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
